ABI DARÉ

Abi Daré is an award-winning novelist, international keynote speaker, writing coach, and educator whose work thrives at the vital intersection of storytelling, gender equity, education, and climate justice.

Her debut novel, The Girl with the Louding Voice, won the Bath Novel Award and became a New York Times bestseller, subsequently translated into over 24 languages. The novel was shortlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize, the British Book Awards Debut of the Year, the Goodreads Choice Awards (Fiction), and Not the Booker Prize. A global cultural phenomenon, it was selected for major international platforms, including Read with Jenna (The Today Show) and BBC Radio 4 Book at Bedtime. It has been widely reviewed and praised by The New York Times and other leading publications and is currently taught in schools and universities globally.

Her second novel, And So I Roar, won the inaugural Climate Fiction Prize, a landmark international award recognising fiction that meaningfully engages with the climate crisis. In recognition of her influence at the intersection of culture and climate, Abi was named to The Independent’s Climate 100 Power List, appearing alongside leading global climate activists, policymakers and cultural figures shaping climate action worldwide.

A highly sought-after speaker, Abi has spoken at Harvard University as well as at several organisations, leading universities, literary festivals, schools, and international conferences. Her talks leverage the power of storytelling to explore education, climate justice, women’s rights, leadership, and the power of voice.

She is a dedicated advocate for the next generation, regularly visiting schools to speak with young people, particularly girls, about confidence, creativity, and agency.

Abi has been featured in major international media, including The New York Times, The Guardian, Oprah Magazine, ELLE, and People Magazine.

Alongside her literary career, she is a writing coach and has tutored creative writing at Curtis Brown Creative, the writing academy of one of the world’s most prestigious literary agencies, as well as The Guardian Masterclasses, Arvon and several others. Abi is the Chief Louding Officer of The Louding Voice Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting the education and empowerment of girls in underserved communities in Nigeria.

In 2024, Abi received an honorary doctorate of Letters from Glasgow Caledonian University in recognition of her contributions to literature and advocacy.

When Abi is not writing or speaking, you’ll find her enjoying good food and getting lost in a great book.
